Steps from the north exit of JR Okachimachi Station, Ramen Kamo to Negi is the original shop of a duck-ramen specialist whose broth is made from just three things: duck, negi (Japanese leek), and water. Open since 2017, it has become one of the neighborhood's best-known bowls — and it now runs 24 hours a day (as of July 2026), so you can sit down to a bowl of clear duck broth at midnight or at dawn.
What kind of place is it?
As the official site puts it, the dashi here is 'duck, negi, and water' — nothing else. Domestic ducks sourced from around Japan (Kyoto, Aomori, Iwate and elsewhere) are simmered slowly over low heat with leeks and water; the shop notes that some ingredients may come from overseas in certain seasons. The tare (seasoning base) blends dark, light and twice-brewed soy sauces from Banshu-Tatsuno, Chiba and Aichi, and the noodles are a custom blend that includes domestic whole wheat. This transparency about where everything comes from is part of the shop's appeal.
Since opening in Okachimachi in 2017, the brand has expanded to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, Sugamo and Umeda in Osaka, with an Ikebukuro shop officially announced for August 2026. The Okachimachi shop is where it all started.
What to order
Start with the signature Kamo Ramen: a clear soup of duck-leek-water dashi seasoned with soy-sauce tare that puts the duck's savor front and center. Pair it with the famous 'drinkable' oyakodon — a small bowl of rice topped with egg that, per the official site, is heated for just 10 seconds, leaving it almost custard-soft.
Negi is taken seriously here: the shop says it selects allium varieties (leek, chives, onion and more) from different regions by season, so seasonal negi toppings are part of the fun. Prices are not listed on the official website — you buy a meal ticket from the vending machine at the shop before being seated, so check prices there; expect somewhere in the ¥1,000s for a bowl (as of July 2026).
