A few minutes' walk from Ebisu Station, close to the Ebisu Yokocho alley, AFURI Ebisu is the original Tokyo location of AFURI, the ramen brand best known for its yuzu shio (yuzu citrus and salt) ramen. Open here since 2003, it became the starting point of a group that now runs shops in Japan and overseas — and it is the only AFURI shop open until 5:00 a.m. every day.

What kind of place is it?

AFURI traces its roots to ZUND-BAR, opened in 2001 at the foot of Mt. Afuri (Mt. Oyama) in Kanagawa Prefecture. The name AFURI comes from the clear spring water of that mountain, which was used to prepare the soup — and in 2003 the brand opened its first Tokyo shop here in Ebisu.

According to the official website, the broth is simmered slowly from whole domestic chickens, seafood, and aromatic vegetables, with a policy of using no artificial colorings, preservatives, or MSG. The Ebisu shop is also notable for its long hours — 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., until the soup runs out — making it one of the latest-open AFURI locations.

What to order

The signature bowl is the Yuzu Shio Ramen: a clear chicken broth accented with yuzu, a small, fragrant Japanese citrus. The official menu also lists Yuzu Shoyu Ramen, plain Shio and Shoyu Ramen, the spicy Yuzu Ratan Ramen, and tsukemen — dipping-style noodles served separately from a concentrated broth — in Ama-tsuyu, Yuzu-tsuyu, and Kara-tsuyu versions. There is also a Rainbow Vegan Ramen, a welcome option for travelers with dietary restrictions. In summer a chilled Cold Yuzu Shio Ramen appears; the 2026 run was officially announced starting June 1.

Menu items carry English names alongside the Japanese, so ordering is straightforward even if you don't read Japanese. Prices are not listed on the official website, so check the ticket machine at the shop.

Tips for your visit

You order at a ticket vending machine (shokken-ki) at the shop: buy a meal ticket first, then hand it to the staff. Payment is fully cashless — cash is not accepted — so bring a credit card, a transit IC card such as Suica, a QR-code payment app, or e-money.

The shop is open year-round, but hours can change around the New Year holidays, so it is safest to check the official X account (@AFURI_fineramen) or Instagram before you go. Since it stays open late into the night, visiting outside standard mealtimes is one way to avoid the busiest periods.
